Cactus And Succulent

Cactus and Succulents are short size houseplants. They are famous for their beautiful shapes and little care. These are mostly grown indoor in small pots. Many of these are good indoor air purifier.

Succulents:

Succulents are drought resistant plants in which leaves, stem or roots have become more than usually fleshy because they have water storing tissues. Succulents are usually grown as ornamental plants because of their striking and unusual appearance. Succulents can thrive on limited water sources such as mist and dew. Water storage usually give succulents plants a more swollen and fleshy appearance than other plants. If their roots are sitting in water for too long they will start to rot and die. Most succulents prefer warm temperatures and are not able to withstand freezing. Due to the water stored in their leaves, freezing will often result in the plant dying or getting mushy leaves. Extremes in temperature as well as lack of water or sunlight can often result in a color change for succulents. One of the amazing qualities of succulents is their ability to propagate easily.

Cactus:

Cactus are flowering plants have the greatest number and variety of species. Although a few cactus species inhabit tropical or subtropical areas, most are well adapted to dry regions. Cacti are succulent perennial plants. Cacti generally have thick herbaceous or woody chlorophyll-containing stems. Cacti can be distinguished from other succulent plants by the presence of areoles, small cushion like structures with spines. Areoles are modified branches, from which flowers, more branches, and leaves (when present) may grow. Cacti are widely cultivated as ornamentals.
