Description: Pine trees can be identified by their needle-like leaves, seed-bearing cones, and reddish-brown or gray bark. Another identifying feature of pine trees is their egg-shaped cones that hang down from branches. Some types of pines can have large woody cones with scales that are long and straight.
Uses: Pine is used for upper and lower respiratory tract swelling (inflammation), stuffy nose, hoarseness, common cold, cough or bronchitis, fevers, tendency towards infection, and blood pressure problems. Some people apply pine directly to the skin for mild muscle pain and nerve pain.

Soil Requirement	Pines benefit the most from well-drained sandy soil where nutrients are readily available. They prefer dry soil that is slightly acidic.
Environment	Quite mild in both winter and summer. Relatively mild winters where the temperature doesn’t fall much below minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit and doesn’t go much higher than 90 F.
Watering	Water pines regularly after planting to help establish strong roots. Pines require about 1 inch of water each week from either rain or home irrigation.
