- Description:Zambian palms have pinnate leaves like a palm tree but are rounded with a thick tuberous stem. The evergreen leaflets grow in opposing pairs of up to 12 per stem. It is low growing plant that spreads 3-4 feet(1 meter) and has an underground trunk. The trunk stores moisture during drought, making Zambia ideal for xeriscape gardens.
