How to Propagate Seed:

Primula seed should be sown in good light conditions with compost on the soil. It can be planted directly in the garden or raised in seedling trays. Sow the seeds directly in the garden at 0mm deep and 20cm apart. The soil should be moist but never wet or dry. Seeds germinate around 14-28 days at a soil temperature of 15-18°C. When seedlings have several mature leaves, then transplant them into the garden. Primulas are cool germinators.

How to Protect them from disease:

Like all plants, Primula is receptive to pests, diseases and other problems. When it is growing in the garden, it is attacked by downy mildew, grey mould and powdery mildew. To control these disease attack, fertilizes them properly and apply fungicide spray on them. Water the plants at the soil level. Remove the deadhead flowers to prolong the fresh flowering. Apply slow-release fertilizer when seedlings are 5-10cm tall. Also, apply liquid fertilizer when plants are fruiting or flowering.
