Kalanchoe (کلانچو)

  • Scientific Name: Bryophyllum Pinnatum
  • Common Name: Widow’s-thrill, Kalanchoe
  • Description:  Kalanchoe, is a dark green, succulent perennial with scallop-edged leaves and large umbels of flower clusters held above the foliage. It has an upright, multi-branched growth habit. Their bloom time is incredibly long for a houseplant.
  • Uses:  Kalanchoes are nocturnal oxygenators. Which means they absorb nasty carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and give you back beautiful, clean, oxygen. They are the perfect houseplant to have around, as the long cold nights set in. Without me even realising it, they help me wind down and relax.
Attribute Information
Blooming Time Year-round
Seasons Evergreen
Soil Requirement A goodsoil.Kalanchoes are succulents that grow best in a well-drained and well- aerated potting soil, such 60% peat moss and 40% perlite.
Environment Due to its extreme cold sensitivity, kalanchoe is best-suited as a houseplant in most climates, and has become a very popular one. Growing kalanchoe indoors is fairly simple, since the temperature range it requires (20 – 30 degrees C) is basically the same as most people.
Watering The best rule of thumb for watering a kalanchoe is to stick your finger in the soil every few days. When the top 2 inches of soil is dry (all the way dry, not just sort of dry), it’s time to water.
