  • Common Name: Zinnia
  • Description: Zinnias are annuals, so they’ll grow for one season to produce flowers and seeds, but the original plant will not come back in subsequent years. They have bright, solitary, daisy-like flowerheads and have stiff, hairy stems and oval or lance-shaped leaves arranged opposite each other and often clasping the stem which makes them great for use as a cut flower or as food for butterflies.
  • Uses: Use as a cutting flower or as food for butterflies. Zinnia flowers and leaves are used as medicinal and ritual herbs. Used in flowerbeds and landscapes.

Soil Requirement Zinnias are adaptable to most soil conditions, but the ideal soil will be rich in organic matter and well-drained.
