How to Propagate Seed:
Pansy seeds germinate best when they are not exposed to light. Spread them into trays or containers and then transplant them into the garden when established. Sow seeds with 6mm depth. The soil should be moist but never wet or dry. Seed will germinate in around 4-7 days at a soil temperature of 17-21°C. When transplanting them into a garden, spacing plants 15-30 cm apart.
How to Protect them from disease:
Pansy is receptive to some pests, diseases and other problems. When growing in the garden, it is attacked by aphids, bacterial leaf spots, downy mildew, grey mould and powdery mildew. To control these disease attack, fertilizes them properly and apply fungicide spray on them. Water the plants at the soil level, not on the leaves. Remove the deadhead flowers to prolong the fresh flowering. Apply slow-release fertilizer when seedlings are 5-10cm tall. Also, apply liquid fertilizer when plants are fruiting or flowering.
