Trees

A tree is a tall plant that can live for a very long time. It has a single stem or trunk and many branches that support leaves. Beneath the ground, a tree has a root system that acts as a support and takes the water and nutrients from the soil which plant needs to grow. We distinguish trees from other plants is their thick and rigid ligneous tissues, which we called as wood. Different tree species have different types of wood.

Trees are perennial plants and they live for many years, sometimes centuries. A tree has above ground parts; including the stem, leaves, fruit and flowers and underground parts; roots. Like other living organism, a tree is born, breathes, grows and reproduces if conditions and circumstances are suitable, before it eventually dies.

Trees have social, environmental, economical, communal and medicinal benefits.
